Umrah Overseas Excursion: Malaysia & Saudi Arabia (29 September – 11 October 2024)
In the September–October 2024 school holidays, 25 Year 11 students from Al-Faisal College – Auburn (20 students) and Liverpool (5 students) embarked on a life-changing overseas excursion to Malaysia and Saudi Arabia, accompanied by 5staff members and the Imam of Omar Mosque, Sheikh Ahmed Kasem. This extraordinary journey was both spiritual and educational, offering students the chance to deepen their faith, form lasting bonds of brotherhood, and engage with Islamic heritage on a profound level.
The trip commenced in Malaysia, where students explored key cultural and religious sites including the Islamic Arts Museum, King’s Palace, KL Mosque, and the Sunway Pyramid Mall.
The next phase of the journey took them to the holy city of Medinah, where they prayed at Masjid Al-Nabawi, visited the graves of the Sahabah, and explored significant historical sites such as Mount Uhud, The Seven Mosques, and a date farm. A moving visit to Jannat al-Baqi and participation in a burial process left a lasting spiritual impression on all involved.
In Makkah, students fulfilled the blessed rites of Umrah, and visited the Kiswa Factory, witnessing firsthand the craftsmanship behind the Kaaba’s sacred covering. The group also toured museums and absorbed the deep history of Islam’s most revered sites.
This journey was truly one of a lifetime—filled with faith, reflection, learning, and connection—and will remain a cherished memory for all who were part of it, Insha Allah.
